Use of ICT in my classroom
On 2nd August 2019, I had a class in VI and the subject
was Social Studies during the 4th period. I have completed the Topic
seven and I actually wanted to conduct the topic revision. The topic that I
have completed was “Earning a Living”. I decided to revise the particular topic
by using ICT rather than revising just through the normal paper and pen test.
Therefore, I thought of conducting the quiz competition amongst the group.
I prepared the quiz questions on a power point slide with animations
covering the whole topic. I have also mentioned some basic rules for the
conduct of group quiz. I announced the class about the quiz competition four
days before and children were so excited because I said that the winner will be
awarded 5 points to their group performance for the year. Children started to
ask so many questions about the conduct of the quiz which a positive learning
attitude shown by the students. The revision of the topic was never done in
that way using the ICT facilities before.
On 7th of August I have gathered my students in Library
room where few mini computers are available in a group wise and briefed about
the quiz competition and its purpose. I started the quiz for three
rounds. The 1st round was a multiple choice, 2nd round
was one word answer, 3rd round was Lucky Dip round.
I can be sure that my
children have really studied hard. To my surprise, I found my children have
really shown their interest in competition. The active participation was found during
course of conducting quiz. The class was found to be interested by using of ICT
lesson. The revision of the topic was
done effectively. Just because of the change in strategy and incorporated ICT,
the children have really studied well. The class was with full of fun and
excitement. Children really enjoyed the class.
However, there was a little
problem in controlling the class as everyone was so excited for the quiz. I
could manage well with the support from my ADM Assistance. I could have prepared
some more questions and could increase the rounds as there was some more time.
In future, I would like to
continue with such practices with extra cautious and improvement in the conduct
of the group quiz in the class level.

Great that you have revised your lesson through quiz using ICT facility.
ReplyDeleteBut I too suggest you that to control the class you could have divided the class to conduct the quiz on rotational basis.
It's great that a revision can now be done with ICT. Used ICT in other purposes but never thought to do revision using your idea. Thanks for your idea and i will implement to my lesson.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to know you revised your lesson through quize as children enjoyed your class which would help them to remember for longer period.
ReplyDeletePowerPoint presentation serves the intended purpose if used efficiently and effectively rather than merely electronic babysitting.

Nowadays our children need a break from pen and paper. They use it daily so the idea of using ict to revise the lesson was good idea. Children learn by seeing. Keep up

ReplyDeleteIndeed you made a right choice to revise your lesson through ICT....and i am pretty sure that your children had a lot fun. So.e of them might be exposed to such tools for the first time. If you continue to follow such tools in future ...tour children might surely be motivated and strive more for learning.
