4. 2nd ICT Reflection on Simulation for the month of September-2019

2nd Reflection on ICT integration for the Month of September, 2019
            On 16th September, I have integrated ICT in teaching Dzongkha for class II.  The topic was on four seasons “Namdue”). The demonstration and discussion was there to provide clear concept of the topic.  The story to be narrated was about “four seasons”. Till now, this topic was taught simply reading a story by the teacher or made the students to read the story written on a chart. However, this time, I thought of teaching this topic using the ICT so that the teaching won’t be a monotonous and bore to children. To get clearer about the topic I used the ICT tools “Simulation” through power point presentation.

To teach the topic in an interesting way, I first revised the previous taught lesson through whole class discussion by showing the pictures at screen. Then, I asked some questions like;

1.          What can you see at screen?

2.            What is that? And so on

Children were so excited to listen and watch the short simulation in a unique way. All the children were asked to note the picture that see carefully.  After listening and watching the simulation most of the children could answer the questions asked from the topics that were discussed.  However, there were some challenges such as few children could not catch up the words and pictures. The other challenge was managing all those necessary materials such as quality simulation and designing in attractive ways.

I could prepare a lesson and was able to manage all the required materials on time as I have planned since a week before. After the question answer session, I could realize that ICT plays pivotal role in teaching the concept of the topic. This time I did not find much negative sense in my lesson because it was short topic with concrete examples. Another improvement in my lesson was due to the feed backs provided by my friends. I learnt that I must not take into granted that everyone in the class has same skills. The lesson was so interactive. Almost all the children could express what they felt or understood about the topic. At the end my class could tell all the four seasons with appropriate months. The child can also tell what their parents do in different seasons. I was happy that I could fulfill my lesson objective at end of the session.
